Proclaiming Success Prematurely
Why send out a flyer proclaiming success with the rehire of 3,900 when 10K of us got axed? Especially when many of us were tenured specials teachers (so no arts are necessary at all).
Not even half were called back to work but NJEA thinks they won because the feds did what they had to do? They had no choice and we all know it. Is this your version of mission accomplished? I understand trying to rally troops but its a bit premature I think.

This website does not help your cause
Hi, I just saw "Waiting for Superman" and I wanted to check out the other side of the story before I made any judgements". I have to say that your website is full of fluff. Every response to the myths speaks in broad terms and show absolutely 0 accountability. The response to how to deal with bad teachers was also pathetic, you are suggesting that more money be spent on making bad teachers better instead of firing them. Not to mention saying that you want to ensure fair dismissal when the process is designed to be extremely expensive ($100,000 +)as… more

Put your money where your mouth is!!!
Instead of blowing dues money on a useless convention, PAC, or advertising, HELP YOUR UNEMPLOYED MEMBERS WHO ARE STRUGGLING!!! Quit ramming your agenda down the throats of those of us with families to support. To continue to act as you are, NJEA, shows how little you care about your teachers, and how it is all about your upper echelons.
PUT UP SOME OF YOUR MILLIONS to help people struggling to pay a mortgage, or overpriced COBRA...Come up with a plan!! HELP! Thousands of unemployed teachers could use it!1 vote -
RSS Feeds 2.0
I have been checking the NJEA site periodically to see if additional RSS feeds have been added to the basic 'news' pages.
In looking for feeds to link to our website, I still do not see any.
Is this information still being worked on and will there be a link for basic news information to share with members and parents on another site?
Thank you.

Please show support to the newly enemployed teachers by allowing them to attend the njea convention.
Your articles during the summer were so heart warming and supportive to all of the unemployed teachers and other school employees. I really felt that you had our backs, so to speak. However, after reading the "Convention Program 2010" magazine I just received in the mail, and reading on-line info. about it, I feel as though you've just stabbed us in our backs, so to speak, because I could not find any mention of us anywhere in the book! Personal feelings of a void from missing teaching the children in my calsses, being connected to the school staff, and the educational… more

Thank you so much for your question about what NJEA is doing to support those members who have lost their positions due to the severe cuts in state aid to public schools and colleges.
NJEA has been working on a plan to extend services to those members who were RIFfed through Aug. 31, 2011 or until those members are recalled or rehired in positions that are eligible for active membership.
After unanimous approval from the NJEA Delegate Assembly in September, NJEA is now working to publicize these services to RIFfed members and encourage them – if possible – to attend the 2010 NJEA Convention where they will enjoy free access to the Convention as well as a special Careers In Transition booth just for RIFfed members to get the information and support they need.
Currently, NJEA is working to compile the data of who qualifies for these services. Once we… more
